1. Get a good understanding about the facility of the campsite. For example, to check out whether the water is drinkable there or there are some little shops nearby. If there are, then you do not have to take drinking water with you. If they are no such drinking water, pack some purification tablets in your pack to clean water for drinking and cooking.

2. Prepare warm, waterproof clothing when camping. In order to light your pack, you don’t have to prepare too much cloth for the four seasons, just something really help, such as one pair of heavy duty pants and some fleece long underwear. In case the rain, a waterproof marquee are a must have as you don’t have to take other rain gear. All that can keep you warm and dry.

3. Pack lightweight socks in your bag as you’ll never know when you will come across stream and be getting caught in a rain. Taking of your boots and socks and crossing with water shoes will prevent your boots from getting wet, while the light weight water socks take up very little space and weigh even less.

4. When choosing sleeping bag or camping tent, you’d better choose some light ones and the ones which are made from heavy duty material particularly for light weight camping.

5. The food must be light to carry and can be kept for quite a long time.
Rice, beans, oats and other grains are usually the good option for a camping trip. As for the cooking tools, rent them from the camping trip if they provide, or get some made from light weight material in some outdoor equipment shops.
